Analyst, Football Night in America, Notre Dame Football, Former Dallas Cowboys Head Coach, NFL Coach of the Year
Jason Garrett joined NBC Sports in April 2022, where he serves as a studio analyst for Football Night in America, the most-watched studio show in sports, and as a game analyst for NBC’s coverage of Notre Dame Football and the USFL. His USFL assignment marked his first foray into broadcasting.
Before transitioning to broadcasting, Garrett was the Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys from 2010 to 2019, where he led the team to three division titles and was named Associated Press Coach of the Year in 2016. Over his tenure, he compiled an 85-67 regular-season record (.559), ranking as the second-winningest head coach in franchise history.
Garrett began his coaching career as the Quarterbacks Coach for the Miami Dolphins under head coach Nick Saban. He went on to serve as the Offensive Coordinator for both the Cowboys and the New York Giants, contributing to their offensive success in each role.
Prior to his coaching career, Garrett had a 14-year NFL playing career as a backup quarterback with the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins, and New Orleans Saints. He was part of three Super Bowl-winning teams with the Cowboys in 1992, 1993, and 1995 and was also a member of the NFC Champion Giants in 2000.
Garrett is a 1989 graduate of Princeton University, where he played quarterback and still holds the Ivy League career record for completion percentage at 66.5%.
