Jason Witten

All Pro Tight End of the Dallas Cowboys, Philanthropist & Coach

Jason Witten, selected in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft, immediately made an impact on the Dallas Cowboys' offense. At just 21 years old, he was the youngest player on the Cowboys' roster, yet he led all NFL rookie tight ends with 35 receptions. This impressive performance earned him spots on both the NFL All-Rookie Team and the Sporting News All-Pro Team.

Witten built on this success with a breakout season in 2004, setting Cowboys team records for receptions by a tight end (87) and receiving yards by a tight end (980). His remarkable numbers earned him a trip to the Pro Bowl in only his second year in the league. After the Pro Bowl, Witten was selected to compete for the NFC in the Battle of the Gridiron Stars, which aired on the NFL Network.

Before joining the Cowboys, Witten excelled at the collegiate level for the University of Tennessee. Despite playing tight end for only two seasons, he still ranks third among tight ends in school history for career receptions (68) and fourth for career receiving yards (797). In 2002, he capped off his college career by setting school records for receptions (39) and receiving yards (493) in a season by a tight end.

Witten earned numerous honors, including being named to the All-SEC Team, the All-American Team, and receiving Academic All-SEC recognition for his performance both on the field and in the classroom.

Jason is married to Michelle, a head ER nurse at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. He is deeply involved in several community charities, including the Children’s Cancer Fund and the "Touchdowns for Tots" program. Additionally, Jason annually hosts the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award, which honors a college player for exemplary leadership.
