Kerri Strug

Olympic Gold Medalist

Kerri Strug is a two-time Olympian and gold medalist who captured America’s heart at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. At just 14 years old, she became the youngest Olympian at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. Four years later, Kerri’s unforgettable performance on vault secured the gold medal for the American gymnastics team. Despite injuring her ankle on her first vault, she courageously stuck the landing on her second attempt, helping clinch victory for her team and becoming a worldwide sensation at just 18.

Kerri’s love for gymnastics began at age 4, inspired by her older siblings. Her dedication deepened in 1990 when, at 13, she made the life-changing decision to move from her home in Tucson, Arizona, to train under renowned coach Bela Karolyi in Houston, Texas. This sacrifice paved the way for her Olympic success.

Now, Kerri splits her time between Arizona and Washington, D.C., where she stays active by running marathons, supporting charitable causes, and mentoring young athletes in pursuit of their own dreams.
